Quick Answer

Airbnb photography case study for an extended period home in Great Comberton. The host wanted to replace their own listing images with a more polished gallery that brings out the property’s beams, stone fireplace, mature garden and sympathetic timber extension. The 24-image sequence explains how the older rooms, brighter extension, bedrooms and garden work together as a high-quality country stay.

This Great Comberton property is an extended period home with a generous sense of character: exposed beams, a substantial stone fireplace, painted joinery and a settled garden all give the stay a distinct identity. A newer, sympathetic extension in timber cladding introduces a lighter, more contemporary side of the house, opening the main living space out towards the garden.

The host wanted to replace their own listing images with a gallery that reflected the level of the property. The brief was not simply to record each room. It was to make the period fabric, the thoughtful extension and the quality of the stay feel clear at the first glance, while giving a potential guest a useful understanding of how the spaces connect.

01A Home with Two Complementary Characters

Part of the propertyWhat it brings to the stayPhotography focus
Period roomsTexture, warmth and a sense of historyShow the beams, fireplace and original proportions without making the rooms feel dark
Timber extensionLight, garden access and flexible living spaceEstablish the scale of the addition and the indoor-outdoor connection

The external view was important because it brings both sides of the house into one frame. The original structure has the character guests expect from a period country stay, while the timber-clad extension sits alongside it with a quieter, more contemporary language. Framing the property through the established apple tree helps the listing begin with a sense of place rather than a disconnected room photograph.

The host's original photographs documented the rooms, but they did not yet show what makes this property feel special. The replacement gallery needed a stronger visual hierarchy: begin with the character that earns attention, show the living spaces in a natural order, then make the bedrooms, bathroom and garden feel like part of the same considered experience.

The older part of the home has plenty of visual material to work with, but period features only help a booking gallery when they are shown with enough light, space and context. I used wider room views to explain the layout, then allowed details such as the stone hearth, beams and painted doors to add atmosphere without overwhelming the sequence.

03The Extension as a Natural Part of the Stay

The extension had to look like a genuine strength of the property, not a separate add-on. Its timber frame, glazed garden edge and generous seating give the house another pace, somewhere for guests to eat, sit and look out into the garden. The photography connects it to the older rooms through transition views and warm material detail, while preserving the brighter, more open character that makes the extension valuable to the listing.

04Rooms That Support a Longer Stay

For an Airbnb or holiday-let listing, the guest needs more than a collection of attractive corners. They need to understand where they will cook, eat, settle down and spend time together. This part of the sequence makes that practical promise clear, while retaining the warmth and finish that justify a more premium presentation.

05Comfort, Privacy and the Garden Beyond

The bedrooms and bathroom complete the decision-making side of the gallery. They show the property as comfortable for a proper break, with soft colour, good proportions and enough variation for different guests. Ending with the garden seating also returns the viewer to the house's setting, reinforcing the space and calm that first appear in the external hero image.

06Airbnb Photography for Characterful Homes

For character properties, the listing photography has to be both accurate and aspirational. I photograph the original features that give a home its identity, but I also make sure that extensions, practical living spaces and quieter rooms have their place in the booking sequence. The aim is a gallery that feels polished, generous and easy to understand.

If you own or manage an Airbnb or holiday let in Great Comberton, the Cotswolds or the wider South West, request a photography quote. I create listing photography around the property’s strongest booking features, from the first image through to the final room and outdoor space.
