Quick Answer

Spring in Somerset offers a unique opportunity for stunning property photography, with vibrant natural light and blooming gardens enhancing a home's appeal. To capture your property at its best, consider professional services that can leverage these seasonal advantages. Matthew Evans of The Property Photo Guy provides expert property photography in Somerset from £175, including drone shots where appropriate and a 48-hour turnaround.

As a property photographer with over 17 years of experience covering the beautiful landscapes of Somerset, Bristol, and Bath, I can tell you that spring is, without a doubt, one of the best times to sell your home. The days are getting longer, the gardens are bursting into life, and there’s a sense of optimism in the air that’s contagious. It’s a season of renewal, and that feeling extends to the property market. Spring is one of the best seasons for property photography across Somerset, from the blossoming orchards of Wedmore to the gardens of Bath.

This is the time of year when I get really excited about my job. The quality of natural light is just fantastic, and it allows me to use my preferred High Dynamic Range (HDR) techniques to create images that are both vibrant and true to life. While some photographers get great results with flash, I’ve always found that nothing beats the soft, diffused light of a Somerset spring morning to really make a property shine.

01Why Spring is the Prime Selling Season in Somerset

There are several reasons why spring is such a popular time to sell. The Easter market surge is a well-known phenomenon. Families often use the Easter break to start their property search in earnest, and having your home on the market and looking its best can give you a real advantage.

But it’s more than just a holiday rush. Spring is when Somerset truly comes alive. The Somerset Levels, which can be stark and beautiful in winter, are transformed into a lush, green landscape. The county’s famous apple orchards are in full blossom, creating a stunning backdrop for any property. And who can resist the charm of a woodland floor carpeted in bluebells? These are the quintessentially English scenes that buyers fall in love with, and they are all right here on our doorstep. From the rolling hills around Bath to the vibrant cityscapes of Bristol, every area has its own unique spring charm.

02Longer Daylight Hours and Better Light

The practical benefits of spring for property photography are undeniable. The longer daylight hours give us more flexibility when it comes to scheduling shoots. We’re not racing against the fading light of a winter afternoon. This means we can take our time to get the perfect shots, both inside and out.

The quality of the light is also a huge factor. Spring light is often softer and more diffused than the harsh sun of mid-summer. This is ideal for capturing the true colours and textures of a property. It allows me to create images that are bright, airy, and inviting, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to attract potential buyers. My drone photography, which is included in all my packages, really comes into its own in spring, capturing the full glory of a property and its surroundings.

03Preparing Your Property for Spring Photos

To make the most of your spring property photography, a little preparation goes a long way. Here are a few tips:

  • Gardens and Exteriors: This is your chance to create some serious curb appeal. Tidy up the garden, mow the lawn, and get rid of any winter debris. A few well-placed pots of spring flowers can make a world of difference.
  • Windows: Clean your windows inside and out. This will not only make your home look better from the outside, but it will also let more of that beautiful spring light into your interiors.
  • Declutter: Spring is the perfect time for a declutter. A tidy, well-organized home looks more spacious and allows buyers to imagine themselves living there.
  • Repairs: Take care of any minor repairs you’ve been putting off. A freshly painted front door or a fixed fence panel can make a great first impression.
