This comprehensive offering helps effectively market properties in these scenic Somerset locations.

As a property photographer with over 17 years of experience covering Somerset and the surrounding areas, I've had the pleasure of capturing homes in some truly special places. One area that consistently impresses me is the stretch of countryside and towns nestled between Bristol and Bath, specifically Keynsham and the beautiful Chew Valley. It’s a region that offers a unique blend of rural charm and urban convenience, making it a highly sought-after location for homebuyers and a fantastic canvas for a photographer.

01The Best of Both Worlds: Keynsham's Strategic Location

Keynsham's biggest draw is undoubtedly its location. It sits almost exactly halfway between the vibrant city of Bristol and the historic elegance of Bath. This makes it an ideal spot for commuters who want easy access to either city but prefer a quieter, more community-focused place to call home. With its own train station offering a sub-10-minute journey to Bristol Temple Meads and around a 15-minute ride to Bath Spa, the convenience is undeniable. I’ve photographed many properties in Keynsham for sellers moving for various reasons, and the feedback is always the same: it’s a friendly, practical, and welcoming town.

From a photography perspective, Keynsham offers a fantastic variety of properties. The town centre has seen significant regeneration, bringing modern apartments and townhouses that appeal to first-time buyers and professionals. Venture a little further out, and you'll find streets lined with classic 1930s semi-detached homes, which are very common in the area. These properties often have generous gardens and a wonderful sense of space. My job is to make them shine. The natural light in these homes is often excellent, which is perfect for my preferred style of natural light and HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography. By blending multiple exposures, I can create images that are bright, airy, and true to life, capturing the warmth and character of the home without the artificial feel that flash photography can sometimes produce. This technique is ideal for showing off the period features and spacious rooms typical of Keynsham's family homes.

02The Idyllic Chew Valley: Lakeside Living and Village Charm

Just south of Keynsham lies the Chew Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is where you’ll find picturesque villages like Chew Magna, Stanton Drew, and West Harptree, rolling hills, and the stunning Chew Valley Lake. The lake itself is a hub for sailing, fishing, and wildlife watching, and it provides a beautiful backdrop for the surrounding properties. I’ve been lucky enough to use my drone to capture some breathtaking aerial shots of homes with lake views, and it’s a feature that never fails to impress potential buyers. Including drone photography in my packages is standard because it provides context and showcases the lifestyle a buyer is investing in, not just the bricks and mortar.

The property market in the Chew Valley is diverse and highly desirable. You’ll find charming village cottages built from local stone, grand country houses with extensive grounds, and even some unique lakeside properties with direct access to the water. The schools in the area are another major draw for families, with Chew Valley School being particularly well-regarded. This, combined with the stunning scenery and strong sense of community, makes the Chew Valley a premium place to live.

Given the desirability of both Keynsham and the Chew Valley, it’s no surprise that property prices are strong. In Keynsham, you can expect to find a good range of options, with average prices for semi-detached homes sitting around the £400,000 mark, while terraced properties can be found closer to £320,000. In the Chew Valley, prices tend to be significantly higher, reflecting the premium for the location and the types of properties available. It’s not uncommon to see larger family homes and properties with land selling for well over £800,000, with some exceptional properties exceeding the million-pound mark.

When I’m photographing a property in this area, I always make sure to capture the unique character of the home and its surroundings. Whether it’s a period feature in a village cottage, the sleek lines of a modern kitchen, or a stunning view over the lake, these are the details that will make a property stand out online. My goal is to create a set of images that tells a story and entices buyers to book a viewing. It's about selling a lifestyle, not just a house.

04Why Professional Property Photography in Keynsham is Your Secret Weapon

In a competitive market like this, professional photography is more important than ever. With so many properties available online, you have just a few seconds to grab a buyer’s attention. My Ultimate Package is a popular choice for sellers in this area, as it includes not only the high-quality HDR stills and drone photography but also a Matterport virtual tour. This allows buyers to walk through the property from anywhere in the world, giving them an immersive and detailed viewing experience that static photos alone cannot provide. It's a powerful marketing tool that filters out casual browsers and attracts serious, committed buyers.

While my base is in Somerset, my work takes me all over the region. I have extensive experience shooting in nearby cities and towns, and you can see my guides for property photography in Bristol and my work in the beautiful city of Bath. Each area has its own unique character, and I love the challenge of capturing that in my photography.

If you’re an estate agent or a private seller in Keynsham, the Chew Valley, or any of the surrounding areas, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch today for a no-obligation chat about how I can help you achieve the best possible price for your home with photography that truly does it justice.
