Twilight & Dusk Photography

Twilight photography is the secret weapon for premium property listings. A beautifully lit house against a deep blue sky creates an emotional response that daytime photography simply can't match.

Twilight (also called "blue hour") is the period just after sunset when the sky turns a rich, deep blue. During this window, typically 20-30 minutes, the ambient light level drops to roughly match the brightness of interior lights, creating a perfect balance.

1. Compose your shot with the property centred or following the rule of thirds

2. As the sky darkens, take a series of exposures every few minutes

3. The magic moment is when the sky is deep blue but not black, and the interior lights glow warmly

4. Take HDR brackets at the sweet spot for maximum flexibility in post

5. If the sky is cloudy, you may need to replace it in post (use a clear twilight sky)

Twilight photography requires a separate visit (you can't combine it with a daytime interior shoot effectively). Most photographers charge an additional £50-150 for a twilight session. It's worth offering as an upsell for premium listings.
